Good Blog.

I think its important to point out as often as Nurse makes boneheaded plays he also manages some great plays as well. He is playing the most ice time and hardest competition and while not ideal he is absolutely doing a better job of any Oiler since Pronger? in managing that rough QOC.

The Oilers have had a plethora of players thrust into the #1 spot that clearly couldn't handle it. IMO, while Nurse needs to improve, its not because he cant handle the role, but more that he tries to do too much in that role.

Your first point is more of an indictment on the Oilers organization as a whole than anything.

Nurse at his best is a #1. The issue this year is he has been no where near his best and as you yourself said, the team have very few options when it comes to supporting him. You can call it trying to do too much or not handling the role or however you want to phrase it. The fact is right now he is not playing nearly good enough.

The team lacks depth in the top four. They really need a Larsson type in the top four and to be rid of Barrie.

Agree with you on his play Sean, but I don't understand you saying his contract isn't his fault. Pretty sure he and his agent didn't go to Kenny and say "I'm a 6 to 7 mil guy, don't give me nine and a quarter". If a player isn't playing up to his salary, it's his own damn fault (by either his demands or his play, or both).

Not tied to the blog, but Poolparty and Yammer have been horrific wastes of 3 mil each so far this year.
